The Mn-doped MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 (MAS) glass-ceramics were prepared by the melt quenching technique. The effect of MnO on the crystallization microstructure and properties of MAS was discussed. XRD results showed that MnO promotes the phase transformation from indialite to Mg0.6Al1.2Si1.8O6 and enstatite. Crystallization kinetics suggested that MnO inhibits the precipitation of indialite.
